My College Room

Hello! I've been waiting to make this post for a while, but I'm finally getting to it. I've finally reached the point where I'm 'finished' with my room. There are a few things that I still need to do, but honestly it may take me quite a while to get to it. SOooo what better time than now to just do it.

First of all, my room style may not be everyone's cup of tea. It's a little different than typical room decor you see on pinterest. It was actually super hard to find design inso for the type of style I wanted, so decorating has been an uphill battle. I kinda wanted it to look like seaside/vineyard vines/natural/bright/navy/preppy all in one, and I feel like I did a decent job for the budget I have to work with.

This little area above my bed is probably my favorite part of my room. I really love watercolor paintings & they're kinda expensive, so I just printed some that I found on the internet and framed them in these super cheap frames I found at walmart. Then I just threw this pennant flag over them to tie it all together!

I like having a white comforter because it's bright and I can just keep it if I ever decide to switch up my room theme. The gingham sheets give my bed a touch of the preppy vibe I was going for & it incorporates the navy that I have on my pillows. I initially was going to do hot pink, navy, and white as my colors, but I had these light pink pillows that I just threw on there and it reminded me of the vineyard vines color scheme so I decided to keep them! I also have this lamp & I recently discovered that it matches the little pom poms on my pillows.

If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen my fireplace transformation. It used to be an ugly red color that actually HURT me to look at every day lol. So, since I rent my house, I decided to get removable vinyl wallpaper stuff and cover it. I kinda screwed it up, but you can't really tell too much & it looks SO much better now.

My little jewelry box has come a long way. I got it a millennium ago and it used to be cream, so I painted it white to match my theme. I used to have the issue of not having a space for my sunglasses and neck/hair scarves, so I found a little jewelry holder on Amazon and it is PERF for storing them and getting them out of my way. I would definitely buy this if you have the same problem!

I find it really hard to decorate around a tv, but I got a little inspo online and at a thrift store. I hung some hats and old tennis rackets on each side of the tv just because I feel like they match the theme I'm going for.

On my dresser I just put some random decorations to spice it up. The lamp makes my room 10x brighter (I love lamps) and the little glass tray conveniently holds my frequently used perfumes and lotions.

I spend most of my time here at my study area/desk/makeup spot. I had no need for my Keurig in the kitchen anymore and I love the color of it, so I decided to buy a little bookshelf from target to store my HEAVY and LARGE school books on and then I put the Keurig on top! Now I can make coffee from the comfort of my own desk.

I also do my makeup here because I like sitting down while doing it & I have to store all of it in this big set of drawers.

Putting everything in my closet has been a major struggle. It seems that I can never fit it all or store it properly. Since there's not much hanging space, I had to decide what was most important to hang and then decided to fold the other things. Getting these three storage totes at the top was such a game changer. I put my shorts in a bag, bathing suits in a bag, and skirts in the last bag. It saves drawer and hanging space & they go in an area of my closet that I never used otherwise.

My out-of-season clothes go in these awesome storage bags under my bed. If you have no space this is another system that helps significantly.

I am going to section and link everything I can find below! A large portion of the items in my room are from thrift shops/used, so I'll do my best to find similar items.

For furniture and certain decor I highly suggest going to the peddlers mall (or comparable stores) and looking. I found my desk there and repainted it which saved me soooo much money!

I also made a Youtube video to supplement this blog post because sometimes it's just easier to describe/show everything on video! So click here to watch & subscribe!

I couldn't find everything online because I got a lot of things a while back, but I did find several things and similar items that I'm linking below.
