Hello!! If you read my back to school post, you know that one of my goals for the spring semester is to make better use of my mornings. For my own purposes, I looked up tons of ways to be more productive in the morning and how to prepare the night before. So, I've decided to write a little bit about the most helpful tips I've found and how I'm implementing them into my day!
The Night Before
A super important aspect of this process is planning. Every night before I go to bed I plan what I'm going to do in the morning and what time I need to be up. This helps me use my time more efficiently instead of just sitting around wondering what I need to get done.
I also read that you need to stop using any electronic devices 1hr before going to bed. Apparently this helps you go to sleep more easily. Rather than scrolling through social media before I go to bed, I now do a devotion or read a book which helps me get tired AF. I also take melatonin to go to sleep because sometimes it just doesn't happen no matter how hard I try LOL.
Morning
Basically the way to have the most success at this is by creating a routine to follow each morning. Everyone is different, so its best to individualize your morning routine/schedule to accommodate your individual needs!
One thing I saw in multiple articles was to give yourself something to look forward to in the morning. This will make you excited to get up and get going. For some it may be exercising, eating a deliciouso breakfast, or reading your fav book. What motivates me to wake up early is the thought of putting on my favorite EVER slippers (they’re so comfortable and cute i <3 them) and drinking the cafe mocha coffee I’m obsessed with.

I also had the major issue of silencing the alarm on my phone in the mornings and going right back to sleep. Unless you want to sleep with your phone across the room, it may be helpful to buy an alarm that you can place away from your bed. I recently purchased an echo dot from Amazon and I use it as my alarm. I highly suggest buying one (or a similar device). It has so many cool features and you can even customize and create a morning routine.
After I get up to turn off my alarm I automatically make my bed. This discourages me from hopping right back in and going to sleep. Surprisingly this works really well and having your bed made also makes you feel like you have your life together a little bit.
Once you’re out of bed and alert, the productivity aspect can begin. I am always hooked to my phone, so in order to get things done I will leave it plugged up beside my bed while I sit at my desk and do my work.
It’s also super relieving to get the hardest things done first in your day. Take your most difficult task and do it as soon as you start working. Everything throughout the rest of the day will seem 10x easier and you won't dread getting it done or procrastinate.
There are sooooo many other tips and tricks than can help you have a really productive morning. I read a ton of articles and found these to be the most helpful for me. I hope this helps you get up and at em in the mornings to come. Thanks for reading!!
